We are excited to introduce our service update called Engine 2018.
Some main improvements and new features included in the update are:
- Improved Engine
- Display specific view distance
- Larger “Up next” information box
- Twitter videos supported
- Twitter 280 characters supported
- Flow Preview (without live data)
- Bug fixes (i.e on app cycles) and more
This is a big update and in this blog we’ll introduce you to the four main areas that the update covers.
Valotalive engine is the foundation of our info screen app that runs on the media players. It controls the apps, runs the flow, talks with our servers etc.. We have improved the engine now to handle Flow cycles in an even more precise way. In other words it’s again a step smarter.
Along with this improvement you can now force content provided by one app to follow content provided another app. Your company KPI data could always follow My Content posts as an example.
This might be needed in terms of increased context between the content. This update also fixes a bug regarding app cycles handling.
Below you can see an animation of how to set the “follow” feature on.

View Distance for easier & precise experience
View distance settings have an effect on how the target audience experience the info screens.
We are introducing a unique, programmatic way of handling the view distance, especially the text size on info screens. Valotalive display specific view makes text size management easier and precise – display specific. More advanced turn key and custom data visualization apps are an exception, they are not affected by the view distance controls.

The new preview feature plays the info screen information Flow in the display preview window. The preview is not running with live data. The preview shows the look & feel of all apps that you have set to the Flow with the selected theme.

You can find the preview in the Displays tab by selecting a specific display.
Along with this update we are bringing the video support for Twitter. Tweest including video clips will be auto-played on info screen to enhance user experience.
At the same time we have also updated the support for 280 characters and an increasing number of emojis in Twitter.
All the above mentioned features are now live and do not require any actions from you. Hope you’ll enjoy the new features and using Valotalive.
Thanks for all the feedback we get from you! We truly appreciate you helping us build a better product.
